Globalization and interesting box icon Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Fri, 1 Oct 2010 20:05:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently replaced the tensioner/pulley on my 9-3SS, and I was marveling at the trip the part took to my home. The part was in a Ruville box from Germany. On the box the label said "Made in USA". Inside the box was a tensioner made by the Litens Automotive group. Cast into the tension arm were the words "Made in Canada". I paid $70 for the part--at least have the price had to be shipping and packaging. Truly amazing.
But the best part was the icon on inside box flap shown below. From the icon I learned:
- All mechanics wear bib overalls
- I should change out of my suit and put on bib overalls before installing the part on my car
- I will need what looks like an 90mm open end wrench to install the tensoner
From the way the mechanic's head is cocked towards man in the suit with big X on him, there is the more sinister message that perhaps the man in the suit asked one too many times if he could watch the mechanic work to make sure he did a good job.
Just a few observations.
