New 9-5 impressions Posted by ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ryan) on Sat, 2 Oct 2010 16:20:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just had a chance to check out the new 9-5 in the flesh finally. Very well proportioned car in person. It has to be one of the nicest large luxury sedans I've seen in quite some time. This puts the generic Japanese to shame. The Germans are getting just too ungainly in my opinion. This new 9-5, and its subtle details, is really refreshing!
I had the impression the new 9-5 was an overly large executive sedan -- not at all the case. The size is excellent, just a little longer than the 9-3, and wider. This car is really the business! I'm personally into the 900/9-3 sized cars, but the new 9-5 Aero in that gorgeous deep blue, but with a manual gearbox, would be very tempting.
That said, the only criticism I'd have, is I don't think the car looks very good in very light colors like white. By no means bad, but the black, dark grey, dark blue, etc. really fit the lines well. Just personal opinion of course. Anyway, do highly recommend getting a chance to check out the car in the flesh; and it will be nice to see them on the road. Seems this local dealership had five arrive recently, and one is already out the door.
Anyway, good job SAAB. Nevermind the GM/Opel DNA (and that is not so bad, because GM cars are actually improving a lot!). The work that SAAB did on this platform in Trollhattan was great, and they deserve to reap the rewards.
