Don't trust your eyes to tell you that a tire is low on pressure. These are steel-belted radial tires, so the pressure can vary pretty widely without changing the appearance much. By the time you notice that a tire looks a little low, it could have less than 10psi in it.
I recently had a tire develop some massive sidewall bulges after I continued to drive on it despite a slow leak (it had a previously-patched nail puncture). I was using a cheap inflator to top it off regularly, but the reality is that I did a fair amount of driving with very little pressure in the tire. I'm lucky I was able to complete a 300-mile journey with the sidewall failure, and bought a new set of tires the next day!
Not saying you did anything wrong, but it would be good to check with a gauge every now and then.
