Too many late nights and weekends meeting with prospective clients who usually said no - after doing their 40+ hour/week day job. Too many training classes, cash flow going the wrong way, etc.
I was recruited in the past too and the company always struck me as the Amway of financial services. Everyone in the organization seemed very intent on recruiting new sales people, so there must have been more money in recruiting than selling.
But this is from the mid to late 1980's so things may have gotten better.
If someone wanted to do direct sales of financial products, Primerica would be an easy way to get into the business. But I always had the suspicion the Primerica salespeople I met were more interested in making money for themselves than guiding clients
