These signs are required in every building! If your current workplace doesn't have them your employer is in violation.
I agree the signs are meaningless. OSHA regs state a sign is necessary to warn workers where asbestos (for example) is located. Labeling of the actual material is not required.
FWIW - I have yet to discover an "Asbestos Free" building that does not contain asbestos somewhere. No; asbestos was never outlawed, a common public misconception.
