Both my cordless recip and circular saws get used a fair bit. They are very useful when jumping up on a deck, roof, etc, for a quick job where a cord is a hassle, and will do most things around a household with a little patience and good blades (dull blades + cordless == frustration).
Currently I have 18V Ridgids. In general I've found Ridgids to be good tools (beside the cordless stuff, I have corded sanders and saws). Service is slow compared to domestically made tools such as Milwaukee, because my local tool service guys need to get the parts from China. Most home users may be less likely to need urgent service, so that may or may not be an issue.
As mentioned.. get extra batteries. :)
