I love my Saabs but also enjoy Audis. My son has an 03 A4 Quattro which is about the same age and mileage (about 120,000 miles) as my 03 9-5 Aero. Based on that comparison, my Saab is much more reliable. His Audi's gaskets seem to leak or seap oil, and he is starting a second round of power window and sun roof repairs. I've helped him do some repairs and maintenance, and find that I prefer working on the Saab. My wife has a 2000 VW New Beetle TDI that constantly challenges my insight into things electronic. She loves the car, but it is a pain to work on. That's what you get for squeezing a Golf into a Beetle body. However, various publications (e.g. Consumer Reports) indicate the 08 and newer Audi/VW products to be significantly better in terms of reliability. If I were considering buying any VW/Audi product I would only consider a 2008 model or newer. I love driving VW/Audis, but find I prefer my Saab. I would look for one of the AWD Saabs if that is important to you.
