The proportions take getting used to, but given the popularity of crossovers this actually makes sense and it will probably have some appeal in certain markets.
My guess is that plenty of people would like a "family convertible" and want to added ride height of a crossover. If this rig has a decent sized rear seat to hold adults or kids it could do well. There used to be big, 4-passenger 'verts from GM & Ford back in the '60s and '70s, but AFAIK the only current options for a larger 'vert with a big back seat are things like Rolls Royces and some custom-bodied cars. Saab 'verts are great, but the back seat is tight for adults.
