I don't think I'd say anything different (although I think a 2002+ 9-5 is a great value.
I never recommend Saabs to non-car people. Where I'm from, there are no close-by Saab resources (dealer is over 1 hour away, and there isn't even an indy around who really knows them). I am my own mechanic for all but the heaviest jobs, and I know what I'm getting into when I buy a 9000 Aero or (my next car) a Viggen or 9-5 Aero, and I'm okay with that.
Unless someone really wants a used Saab and fully understands what they are getting into (it's not a Honda, Toyota, Chevy or Ford... and thank the good Lord it's not), they are not as easy to own as many other cars.
Now, before anyone jumps on me ans tells me how their Saabs have been no less work than their Camry and all that... I don't dispute that. My 9000 served me very well (as have all the other Saabs my family members have owned... probably ten by now). The bottom line is this, you can't walk into a Napa Autoparts store and get a DI cassette or even a serpentine belt off the shelf. A prudent Saab owner will have a spare, or be ready to drop some coin at a dealer (if there is a dealer close by). Things like that don't happen to owners of bread-and-butter cars. It's all about what you expect a car to be.
Cheers from Kyrgyzstan, where owning a Saab would be even more difficult,
