I have the shade open 99+% of the time, and have already been driving with the glass retracted this year (remember, this is Michigan and the current outdoor temp as I type this is only 37 degrees F). My wife loves the sunroof in her 9-3SC, and having a sunroof was one of her non-negotiables when looking at cars for her.

They are clearly a pleasure item, not a necessity, and maybe not even a smart purchase pleasure item. I have never owned a convertible but imagine I would get less "open air" time in a 'vert than I get "open roof" time with a sunroof.

FWIW - Our older son shares our passion for sunroofs, our younger son detests them. To the point of pullng the shade closed when riding in our cars.
