I kept the pedal to the metal on a daily highway commute in my first Saab 25 years ago but don’t drive like that these days and we both commute local roads now with too many cops and too many other cars around us.

We’ve kept our Saabs a long time so we don’t redline or put the pedal to the floor, but don’t think we need to floor them to go fast… and we want them to last! I don’t fault anyone for enjoying speed, we both still speed but only when conditions allow on empty roads if you can ever find one where we live in central CT.

We both still love the turbo rush and it feels like a secret weapon under the hood – we just try to be careful of what’s around us for traffic, cops, etc.

Someone mentioned gas mileage too – we get great mileage with our Saabs and for us I think the trick is – you can go fast but get better mileage if you build up speed slower and resist that temptation to live in the “turbo zone†the whole way down the road. ;)

We also speed less in our daily drivers, which both happen to be red. I don’t care what police say about red cars not getting more tickets – we get radar and laser hits in our red cars even doing the limit while we can drive MUCH faster in ALL of our other Saabs that are NOT red, and the police ignore us by comparison… even with louder exhausts on the other cars that make them SOUND like they are going faster in my opinion.

Sorry folks – someone mentions speed and Saabs and I will run off at the mouth ;)
