Where do you buy the fuel??? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 11 May 2011 17:28:12 In Reply to: Honda Clarity fuelcell car, No Snaab, Wed, 11 May 2011 07:22:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
GM has been touting their hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles for years, but you still can't buy one. And if you could, where would you purchase hydrogen? GM is currently installing multiple hydrogen re-fueling centers in Hawaii where their use actually makes sense. Extremely high cost of gasoline, hydrogen is produced locally as a waste by-product of the local natural gas industry, and you can't drive out of range of a re-fueling station even if you tried.
E-85 can be dispensed by all of the millions of existing gasoline stations in the US, yet it is impossible to find outside of the corn belt. Yet for some reason manufacturers keep selling cars with flex fuel capability. Flex with what?
Natural Gas is on property at nearly all of the gasoline stations in the northern 3/4's of the US, yet is almost non-existant as a fuel source. No Manufacturers produce any natural gas fueled vehicles (Honda was the last hold out).
Then there is diesel. Available almost everywhere, higher fuel efficiency than gasoline, but nearly no US market automobiles can use it.
