craig, don't be shocked when you look at the prices of everything there. as a former resident i can tell you that it's a great place to visit but there is nowhere to open up the turbo especially in honolulu. it's also true that people drive generally slower and a lot do not know how to merge. my california brother-in-law who loves to drive saabs and other fun cars is reduced to doing autocross at an abandoned airfield or parking lot. rent a vert, surf, stay in a condo away from waikiki and make sure to try the local food. when time permits visit the other islands esp kauai.
