the original 9-3ss to me was very bland, trying to look too much like an Audi, probably an intentional play for market share (with GM at the helm). Then in 2008, they made the front end look better, more saaby... now they've refined it further with some cues to better align it with the new 9-5 aesthetically, and imho it looks really good! Actually, I like it's looks better than the new 9-5... but it is still a sedan, so of course if one really wants it to look like more traditional saab hatch, well, can't expect that... imho, the SS looks much better than the SC... I like the SC from a practical perspective, but aesthetically, it reminds me of the matrix, and a whole host of other modern hatchbacks that look to me like little minivans, even though they aren't - just something about the form! I prefer the og 9-5 wagon look...
wrt to the second link, the writer was pretty uninformed. The biggest error: it is not the same power plant, it's a totally different engine! direct injection 2.0L turbo, like in the 9-5, which gets a bit more horsepower + fuel economy.
