It is coming into high season so hotel rooms will fetch a premium, might look for B&B's if nec. It's a big place so you can't see the whole thing in a week, so don't waste time in Anchorage. What I would do is start with a couple day trip down to Homer, at the tip of the Kenai Peninsula. You can see several glaciers along the way, as well as climb the one outside Seward (Exit Glacier). The view from the top is magnificent. The scenery all the way down is awesome - you will see bald eagles, bear, etc.
Then head north to Denali for 2-3 days. The brown bears and other wildlife there are amazing. Take the bus ride through the park. If you had more time there's a lot more to see, east toward Wrangell St Elias, etc. but since you're short on time you might want to take a float plane ride for a few hours - you could really get some great views. Alternatively, a window seat on the plane in and out is nice, too.
Enjoy. It is a beautiful place and sadly, rapidly changing. See as many glaciers as you can, while you can. Cheers.
