Scrap steel and iron is going for ~$.10 a pound at the counter rate, so even the shell of a car is going to be worth at least a coupe of hundred bucks. In most areas that's probably enough for someone to be willing to remove it for free. It's funny thinking of an old Saab being ground up and shipped off to China to be turned into who knows what. If you've got some junky old alloy wheels sitting around, high grade aluminum is going for ~$.75 a pound at the counter so it can be a fun experience hauling them to the scrap yard along with any other old metal and making a few bucks.
