I've never especially liked GM products but I don't get this "I hate GM because of what they did to Saab" thinking. GM was horribly mismanaged for decades. That put Saab on the far back burner at GM (they didn't understand the brand), but still...
if they hadn't acquired Saab in the mid-90s it would have vanished altogether. So that actually saved Saab. The NG900 and the 9000 would probably have been the last Saabs if GM hadn't stepped in.
then they sold it, but the new 9-5 and the 9-4 share platforms developed at GM. And the current 9-3 is a GM platform. Without those there would be no Saab at all. De-contenting aside, the more recent OG 9-5 models and the 9-3SS/SC have proven to be pretty reliable.
I just don't get all the angst about this, unless it's all coming from folks who think the 99 or C900 were perfect cars.
