Honestly I’m not one bit sad to see this Saab dealership go.

I live in Arizona and there is very little inventory available here, I had a 2007 Saab 9-3 and wanted to purchase a new one. So I sought and obtained my own financing through my bank and sold my 2007 privately because of the horrible trade-in value. I then begin searching in March, 2011 for a new 9-3, though nothing was really available in the Phoenix market; therefore I started looking in California.

I found a great selection of new 2011’s and low mileage pre-owned 9-3’s at Saab of Santa Ana. I discussed in length my financing stipulations (that I was approved through my own bank) and travel arrangements (to come out to Santa Ana) with one of their sales staff.

When I came out there in March this year to buy a car and look at what they actually had in inventory their sales / finance manager Jeff Jones treated me like I was moron. Basically he laughed at me over the fact that I had my own financing arranged, and then acted insulted that I didn’t want to obtain financing through the dealership directly. In fact he refused to negotiate price on one of their 9-3’s with me until I had cash in hand for him, which was bizarre, because most banks need an agreed upon price to know what amount to generate a check for.

Long story short, he insulted me and didn’t take my purchase seriously given the fact that I flew all the way out there from Phoenix to buy a Saab, and TRUST me, in March, 2011 I was basically the only person on their lot looking at buying a Saab.

I went to Saab of Beverly Hills later that day, they were accommodating, respectful, and I ended up buying a new 2010 Saab 9-3 that had some great rebates on it at the time, because it was year-end clearance sale to reduce what was left of their 2010 inventory.

I found it ironic that at a time when Saab is struggling and every sale counts for a dealer that Saab of Santa Ana treated me the way they did. But in the end I’m very happy with the 2010 I bought and I only hope for the best outcome for Saab in general.
