you have to do due diligence and be able to do a thorough inspection. You also need to know your own threshold of pain for the inevitable repairs you'll need to do. I'm not sure it matters where it comes from. Perfectly decent cars wind up being wholesaled by dealers every day.
Almost any C900 will have gone through several owners, some of whom may not have given the car a lot of care. So you have to know what to look for, especially the weak spots. If you go to a dealer, you *really* have to know what to look for because you won't get any service history.
If you can buy one from a Saab guy it will (probably) tend to be better cared for, but time and age are always part of the deal, so you know you'll have stuff to fix unless the car has already been restored.
I've bought 5 Saabs used, some with lots of miles, but either had service records or a good sense of their histories. One I didn't see until I bought it. It's all been good, but you just have to know that there will be surprises.
