I think my 20:10 first slipped when I was around 35. Doc told me I was 20:15 in one eye, 20:20 in the other, and I said it felt like I was going blind. He said 20:10 is about 2X normal, so yeah, I would feel that way. When I was 18 or so I could read the 20:10 line on eye charts and could almost read the 20:5 line. Age sucks.
I have slight astigmatism and I'm at 20:20 now, and some glasses can correct for the astig. I usually don't bother wearing them as it only really affects me when I'm tired. I can still read road signs far enough away so it's OK. I just can't read them from as far away as when I was younger.
I wear drug store 1.75X magnifiers for reading, computer (all day) and close work. They ARE a nuisance in summer when working on the car. They slip down my nose so sometimes I strap them on with a leash. I'd rather need them for distance than close work. But at almost 62 I guess it comes with the territory!
