the dealers don't need the negative commentary... ours (in Ottawa) has contracted but still does service. Service at parts counter has really improved for me recently + I think this kind of approach is really a good thing to ensure a presence + viability of ownership in the weaker markets...

if derf's friend sells Hondas + Nissans + is a "volume guy", maybe he is just bad mouthing the competition/spreading rumours... I could certainly badmouth Hondas + Nissans (and sometimes do - ha!)... even if the current location is being sold, the business could just be relocating... it does them a disservice to spread rumours of closure!

There is a Saab dealer critical mass in southern Ontario of KW, London, and Budds that have really stuck with the brand, even hoarding used Saabs to carry them through the down period before Saab came back to Canada... if I see them close up their Saab portions, then I'll be worried... our dealer, while they meant well, just had moved too far from Saab critical mass during the GM death spiral to succeed selling expensive NG 9-5s in our (now) fairly anemic saab market, imho... to be honest, if I was shopping for a new (or even used) Saab, I'd have been looking to southern Ontario first anyway because the prices, selection, + experience are better + it's not that far a drive for me...
