I hope this one works, but we've had a lot of false alarms. I don't know how much cash Youngman can ante up, or how long is the leash from the Chinese government re: signing on the dotted line. We'll presume all OK. Ditto on international bank cash and terms. Again, let's presume these bridges have been crossed.

But, the key issue here is cash, and lots of it. In my experience, no deal is done until the money changes hands and the new sign is on the door. Saab needs a massive infusion just to get back to square one, at least so the market news suggests.

Second problem is long shut-down period. By the time the deal's done -- if it's done -- we could be into next year, and approaching one year since production halted. Need to reestablish suppliers, logistics, test and repair machinery, re-train workforce, resurrect dealer organization, etc.

Tough assignment, but I would really like a worthy successor to my '06 9-3 Aero. There is little I see that I like as well.
