the 9-3 was a fairly minor uptick from the NG900 (at least from the outside)... so 9-3 means "900", but I get what you're saying... it's supposed to be read as "nine three", not "nine cubed"... meaning "three digit number starting with nine"... 9x10^(3-1)... awkward, yes...
I agree... they ran out of numbers after 99, 900 is quite reasonable... is a 9000 an order of magnitude better? it does convey the larger size though... going up incrementally from the 99 maybe the c900 should have been the 910, and the 9000 the *ahem* 911... 9-5 the 912, ng9-3 the 913... easy to tell them apart, but nothing of much meaning in the numbers... might be better to do like bmw or whatever, and stick with 9-3/9-5 to represent the niche/size/whatever, and a model program akin to e36 etc to define the iteration (vs NG/OG etc that only work for 1 uprev)...
Nokian is going to run into a similar problem... our oldest 900 had Nokia Hakka 10 tires... then we got Hakka 1's, Hakka 4's, and they are now all the way up to Hakka 7's... won't be long before they are back at 10's again!
I hope they can stop circling the drain... really want to see the new 9-3, 900, 93, or whatever materialize... sounds super cool!
James...
