Where do you live? That premium price is insane! My 9000 has an Aero ECU and it definitely runs much better on 93 Octane Premium or even 89 Octane mid-grade vs. 87 octane regular. In addition to more boost when stomping on the pedal when using premium (boosts into the red zone on the gauge), take off from a stop produces audible engine knock with regular - and no, the pistons are not caked up, I just looked at them when I changed the plugs and can see the bare metal. I can always tell when the car has been filled with "regular", or even substandard gas labeled as "premium", as the performance degrades noticeably.
