When I bought my 2010 9/3, in December of 2010, I plunked down an extra $2,500 for a warranty from... GM! Although GM had sold its interest in Saab, the rat-bastards were still selling extended warranties (though they're more accurately described as "service contracts") for Saabs.
The "GM Protection Major Guard warranty" is 6 years/100K miles, zero deductible, covers-damn-near-everything contract. Per a GM-affiliated website:
"Is GMPP Major Guard a GM Extended Warranty?
A GMPP Major Guard service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs of services. Most consumers call this a "GM Extended Warranty", however a GM service contract is not a extended warranty as defined by federal law. The separate and additional cost distinguishes a service contract from a GM warranty. A General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) may be arranged at any time and always costs extra; a GM factory warranty comes with a new GM and is included in the original price of the vehicle."
See HERE for what is covered; it's fairly comprehensive:

I think GM is pretty much stuck with honoring this service contract, even for services that would have been provided by Saab under my Saab warranty, now that Saab is (apparently) no longer around. Anyone disagree? And, they have contracted to fix the car, regardless of the cost or rarity of parts; and there's no "limitation of liability" in their agreement; they can't simply give me my $2,500 back and be done with me.
It may be the luckiest purchase I ever made. And, it's possible that GM is still selling these agreements for Saabs; you might want to check, if you recently bought a Saab...they sell them for used as well as new.
Of course, if you think I'm mistaken in my belief that GM's going to have to honor their service contract, I'd love to hear why.
