What a nightmare! Your friend should probably consider this car totalled, as it is going to be close to impossible to obtain all of the parts needed for repair - if that's even feasible.
In the mid 1980s, I used to walk my dog past a burnt Fiero for weeks while they were deciding what to do with it - you could smell burnt plastic half way down the block.
