My daughters (18 and 23) know to take care of a car, but then they can change the oil, plugs, filters, battery, etc., on their Saabs. They could probably do brakes with minor assistance.

What I find is interesting is that almost none of their friends, including the guys, have a clue about cars and car repair. I guess these are the kinds of folks who will buy low-cost entry level cars and not maintain them.
