It's more a factor of distribution right now. The parts warehouse in Allentown, PA has been idle ever since the bankruptcy. From calls I've made, there are plenty of parts available for cars, but without access, we are all holding our breath. I believe many companies like Eeuroparts and RockAuto act as a conduit from Saab direct to the consumer for OEM parts.
Many service parts are available from aftermarket companies and should still be available. However, this is still limited for newer cars. For older 9000s and 900s, it pretty much aftermarket at this point for many necessary parts.
I was very lucky to find a new 9-5 "jalousie" for my car, as mine broke the day Saab announced bankruptcy.
Ideally, Saab Cars North America will and SHOULD just become a dedicated parts organization if it can exit from bank. I doubt it makes sense for Saab to liquidate the warehouse and sell everything for 50 cents on the dollar to a third party distributor. Peugeot still has parts available in Allentown via Caterpillar for 405s and 505s....I used to own a 405 Mi16 and was amazed at what was still available.
