So am I... it's a more open game...

But this was actually a reasonably tense Superbowl with a few momentum shifts. No 1989 Grey Cup, but fun to watch nonetheless. I didn't have a strong bias, maybe a little in favour of the Patriots... but there were at least 3 big time dropped balls in the 4th quarter that should have been gimmes... can't win big games doing that...

One thing that I don't understand in the NFL is the rationale for the out of bounds incompletion rules... so the rule is 2 feet must touch in the green, if the defense can knock him out without touching both, it's an incomplete pass... in the CFL one foot dragging across the line (with possession) is enough... to me, it's a little like playing 2 hand touch vs 1 hand touch football: 1 hand, 90% of the time even the receiver knows if they're touched or not, easy to see + feel, + play stops. 2 hands, there's always conflict over whether or not that 2nd hand touched... the dynamics of getting 2 feet down while reaching to catch a ball are tough, so the NFL rule mostly eliminates successful diving catches along the sidelines (there was 1 in the Super Bowl)... it seems the solution for a wide receiver in the NFL is to leave a significant cushion wrt the sidelines, so it effectively just narrows the field (which is already about 10 yards narrower than up here)... so is the rationale of the rule, just to make it more challenging to get first downs? or a safety measure to avoid players crashing into cameras etc on the sidelines? like I say, I don't get it...
