It's an essential rule for a web-designer not to go with any pop-ups. If a user wants a link to be opened externally, he will handle that on his own (with all those right-clicks and modern middle-clicks). It is very disgraceful (though, somewhere popular) trend to code the links to be opened externally - e.g. I hate that very popular photography british web-site (dee-pee-...-ew) since every time they publish a news telling 'we have just completed a review of XXX camera, hit THIS link to read it' - and it opens in an new window. I can do almost nothing on that (the only way is to drag that link and drop it into the address field which is quite annoying itself and damn annoying especially with laptops and their touchpads).
It is much more easier and ergonomic for a reader (who prefers the link to be opened externally) to do that right- or middle-click then to rather fight with those pop-ups or go arranging the tabs if it opens externally on its own and the user doesn't like that.
I really appreciate this change implemented and would like to see it never rolled back.
Thanks,
Zig
