I got an email from RockAuto and below is their response (at least their customer service seems pretty good). To be fair, the 4 ball joints accounted for $50 of the shipping because they were coming from over seas. Then another $40 (wasn't even listed as international) was for one power steering hose which cost $20. Yes, shipping was double the price of the part. The other $30 was for 4 brake rotors and a few misc parts. Still too much for me. Ended up finding everything through Amazon.

Our website is linked to FedEx. As you put items in the shopping cart, shipping cost is calculated "live" using their actual rates. Shipping charges vary based on:

Distance from the warehouse to you
Weight of the parts
Size of the parts (FedEx and UPS charge "dimensional weight" fees for bulky parts)
Number of warehouses involved in your order.

Our software automatically chooses to ship from the warehouse(s) closest to you and from as few warehouses as possible. But with over 500,000 parts in our catalog, it's not possible to stock everything in one place.

To minimize shipping costs:

Use the truck icons in the shopping cart and in the catalog to help you minimize the number of locations your order will ship from. As you add parts to the shopping cart, the truck icons with letters represent the location where your part will be shipping from (location A, B, C, etc.). A blank truck icon in the catalog is showing you that the particular part is available from the same location as a part in your shopping cart.
Ship to your office or business, rather than your home (commercial rates are lower).
