I understand your point, though I'm not sure there's a lot I'm interested in for 2k down and $300/m...
I keep thinking though, for not much over $2k down one could find a decent used saab (eg c900, 9000, og 9-3, older 9-5), and $300/m is way more than enough to pay an indy to keep it running until it rusts to pieces...
But I understand what you're saying about it being nice to not have to do repairs on a car... I am growing to enjoy it + also, the more I do, the less I find the cars need to have done... I spend less repairing 3 Saabs now, than I did when I only owned 1... and the most costly one in the past year is the 9-5, not the c900s!
one thing with leasing I noticed (vs financing), is one typically pays a differential of around $1k or so... which is not a bad amount as a try before you buy... the only thing is if the lease buyback price exceeds market value, it makes it tougher to justify getting your well maintained lease vehicle vs some other schmuck's beaten up lease...
