Hard brake lines Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sun, 1 Jul 2012 16:10:24 In Reply to: Indy in or near Racine, WI, MarcD [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 1 Jul 2012 14:30:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You didn't say which car, but...
Hard brake lines are not that unusual to replace; they rot, get dented and get mangled when trying to replace the rubber hose (been there, done that). Most real auto parts stores carry several versions of hard lines (different tube diameters and end fittings to connect to the rubber brake lines) and they are typically bent to fit using a tool like the one linked. I believe that most competent mechanics can handle this job, it is not necessarily SAAB specific, unless the fittings are unusual (more likely on the C900).
I don't know of any shops in Racine, but there is a place called Lake County Hydraulics in Zion, IL, that at a minimum should have the parts you need, and they might be able to hook you up with someone to do the repair. They reconstructed my Audi clutch hose ($160 and out of stock) for about $20.
