And that is why I eat all my food cold, I use a lever to engage the brakes on my horseless carriage, and I do not own any pointing devices (since they don't work on the CLI anyway). I am also not connected to the internet, but am well-versed in Morse code for communication over wires when yelling plain doesn't work.
IMHO, the initial ways of doing things are sometimes limited by the technology available when they were invented. As new technology becomes available we sometimes find faster, more efficient, or just plain easier ways of doing things. If you're happy with human:computer interface you've got and have always had, that's totally cool. I am up for re-evaluating my day to day to see if there is a way I can get my work done more quickly.
I had this discussion with my dad (who is 77) the other day, and tried to show him how some of the new (even current) Windows technologies might let him spend more time doing work and less time keeping house. He wasn't up for it, didn't trust that it could work reliably.
I have put real effort into putting these technologies to work, and after many months of really using them, I can say my productivity hasn't increased one iota. But I am a lot less rushed in maintaining that level. WIN!
To each his own...
