there is definitely a market for "traditional value" Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 16 Jul 2012 03:32:34 In Reply to: Taping the niche for new "vintage quality" stuff, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 14 Jul 2012 09:08:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You see it all the time, though often there is an overseas manufacturing element still.
Like the hardware you mentioned, there is a lighting store out of Portland that is online: Rejuvenation. They do the historic lighting thing. Much of it is made by them in the USA, but not all. The quality is great, though not quite as much metal as the originals, they are not flimsy like the Chinese made junk in most hardware + lighting stores... and the historical accuracy is much better also...
On topic for the watering can, Lee Valley (in Canada + online): much of what they sell, they make themselves in Canada. The product quality (even of stuff made overseas) and support is great. Prices are usually quite reasonable too. Their watering cans are Hawes but they are only sort of crazy expensive, depending on size + finish. Nothing as costly as $130, but maybe that was for a bigger volume can?
