Sure gas may have 33 KWH of energy in it, but in typical driving only 18-20% is captured by conventional cars. So that leaves you with about 6.6 KWH at a cost of $4, or more then 60 cents per KwH. Not so cheap. What is even more staggering is when you convert gasoline BTUs to calories and realize the energy in 2 gallons is enough calories for a person to eat richly for 2 years!!!!
