Going on about 18 years since my first batch, but didn't get serious until about 6 years ago when I switched to all grain. By mashing grain (and monitoring ph), analyzing/building brewing water, controlling fermentation temps and fermenting with adequate yeast quantities you can brew beer as good as anything out there.
I mainly batch sparge because I'm lazy but since I get great efficiency, I have no reason to change. Been kegging since going all grain and converted a smaller chest freezer to a keggerator with 2 perlick faucets mounted on a collar.
Currently pouring a hefeweizen, extra pale ale and an ipa (one on a picnic tap inside). Always have an ipa and usually do a tripel in summer and lagers in winter.
I have the pots and gear to step up to 10 gallon batches. Will be welding up a sculpture (similar to Top Tier) this winter.
