I was working on a Blitz Build where the goal is to complete a house from foundation to weather tight status in 5-days using volunteer labor. I definitely learned I am geting old. It has been 20+ years since I did a lot of D-I-Y home construction and yesterday's 86 degrees with sunny cloudless skies slowed all of us desk jockies.
HFHD is concentrating in a neighborhood called Morning Side and they are making a huge difference. Completely refurbished original homes and a mix of newly constructed homes now dot the neighborhood. There still exist original homes that that have deteriorated to the point that full demolition is their only future possibility. I imagine this will happen after the current open lots have been filled with new homes.
One interesting observation is the condition of the recently constructed new homes. As I told my wife, the exterior of these homes are immaculate! I don't think a single blade of grass in their lush green lawns is out of place. I wish home owners in my neighborhod took as much pride in their homes and neighborhood as the owners of the HFHD houses.
