I have a vacuum pump for my boat, and each engine hold 7 quarts. It's fine for the boat because the engines don't get as hot as car or truck engine. I made the mistake of trying to vacuum the oil out of my '87 Silverado through the dipstick tube. After about 30 seconds the flow slowed down to a few drops. Then, I started to pull the hose out of the dipstick tube. Because the tube was so close to the exhaust manifold, the hose got too hot and started to stretch - like taffy. The mode I pulled, the thinner it got. I finally, let it go and let the engine cool for an hour. After that the hose pulled out, but much more thinner than it should have been. So, don't use the vacuum pump on engines that get real hot... Ron
