Regularly deal with extended warranties and GMPP/GMAC is by far has the best and most comprehensive plans offered than any. Use to be written by Saab dealers as an extension of factory warranties. Six months ago had a client buy an uber clean 07 9-6 Aero Wagon with 52k miles. Went to the closest Saab dealer two hours away and paid $2100 for their highest offered plan for 36m/36k $100ded. One good thing from a shop perspective is they will give full Saab MSRP pricing for parts and very reasonable labor op times. No haggering to install aftermarket junk Chinese parts and give you half the time to replace. Then follow up saying the customer is responsible for the difference.
Here are some of my experiences:
-Replaced a clients $2500 6-Disc CD changer headunit in her '06 9-5 Aero without any gripes. Previously had engine mounts, waterpump, bypass valve, AMM, IDM and rear wheel bearing replaced.
-Replaced a LH front window regulator on a 2007 9-3. They had no gripe to also replace the foam weather/sound shield as it would tear when removed to replace the regulator.
-Covers all top hydraulics, lines, pump including oring install kits and top fluid.
-Fully covered a 2006 9-3 ABS/ESP brake module with pump assembly. Total repair was almost $3,000.
In short, find a policy that defines what is NOT covered rather than most that only give you a list of the items that ARE covered. Also take your vehicle to a knowledgeable Saab shop that can accurately diagnose and proactively inspect items of common concern.
