Vredestein QuaTrac3 versus Nokian WRG2 tires Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 28 Dec 2012 11:30:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Three years ago I replaced the scary Pirelli P6 tires on my wife's 9-3SC with Vredestein QuaTrac3 tires. Like the Nokian WRG2 these are an "All Weather" tire complete with the snowflake within a mountain symbol rather than an All Season tire.
After three years of use, with rotations every 4K to 5K miles, I have found them to be far more confidence inspiring in poor road conditions than the P6 tires they replaced. Unfortunately they will need to be replaced before next winter after only ~30K miles of use. At today's rotation two tires measured 5/32 tread depth and the other two measured 6/32. In addition to regular rotations the tires are routinely checked for proper inflation and my wife is an easy driver - no hard cornering or jack-rabbit starts.
These tires are less expensive than the Nokians but do they have the same life expectancy? I realize part of their winter advantages over typical All Season tires is the result of softer rubber compounds that are less durable than All Season tires.
What mileage life are users of Nokian WRG2 tires achieving? Thanks.
