Probably the best thing you could do would be to learn how to read a schematic diagram. The labeling of the symbolic connections to the components on the diagrams will give you a clue as to where the high voltages appear, and once you can relate symbols on the diagram to the physical components on the board, things won't be such a mystery.
As an example, the B+, which is the high voltage supply, will appear at the plate of the tube (the top horizontal bar in the tube symbol). You can trace the wire on the circuit diagram to see the supply line going back to the rectifier circuit. All the connections to that line will be dangerous.
A schematic will also give you a feel for the design of the amplifer. The inputs are on the left hand side, which go to the preamp section, then on to the power amp section, with the final output to the speakers on the far right. The low signal levels from the input are amplified and contitioned until they are at a signal level at the output to drive the speakers.
