I realize that whoever did the photo shoot didn't understand how they go together. The slotted recess at the top of the lower piece mates up with a slotted tab on the upper. The lower piece also includes a pair of steel pins that secure to a pair of holes in the ramp. The upper extension pieces nestle right in the lower piece. As previously stated, the steel ramps are stackable, but unless you insert some spacer (a couple pieces of 12-2 w/G romex in my case) between the two, they can get together pretty tight.
In full disclosure, I have to admit that these ramps have slid before on my smooth garage floor while attempting to drive up. It doesn't create an unsafe condition, I just back up, reposition, and try again. Maybe one of these days I'll try to rig something up to eliminate that possibility. I don't know if the plastic ramps are less prone to slipping? They claim that the extensions help with slipping, and I'm sure they do, but they don't guarantee eliminating it.
