That reason alone is one of the prime reasons many of us become a DIY (do it yourselfer) I do have an independent Saab shop I tend to visit from time to time and the indie there knows full well the prices I can get for parts and I know the indie has to mark up his prices so he can keep his shop doors open. Ill ask him how much he will do any given job that needs to be done and then ill ask how much in parts is he charging me, if his price cost is well over., like 3times the cost I can get the part for he will never hear about the problem again. Being its a job I will undertake myself. However if his prices are reasonable ill have him do the job.
Some shops have a specific supplier they use and the supplier warranties the item which will drive up cost. The shop prices will never be as low as Eeutoparts.com for parts and there are some items one can find even lower in cost than Eeuro offers. Having a shop buy and work on your car leaves you the worrie free mind set that you don't have to. But it will cost lots compared to what I diy'er can do the same job for. Only difference is your drinking margaritas and the diy'er is working on the car.
Why what's up, how much is the shop charging u in labor and in parts?
