Leaking Fram oil filter??

My new Viggen has been randomly leaving oil drips under it since purchase. With my newly modified ramps I changed out the oil and filter yesterday prior to the car going into winter storage in our garage. While under the car I searched for the source of the small oil spots.

Whoever did maintenance for the previous owner used Fram filters for both oil and air. The oil filter has the black crinkle paint which I think identifies it as Fram's sole model that is an OK to good filter. It appears the oil leakage originated at the selaing surface between the filter and mounting adaptor. The filter was on tight.

It also appears that the rubber ring was too thin and may have compressed allowing the filter can to seat against the filter adapter plate before the gasket was compressed to sealing conditions. Anyone else ever note a similar problem?

I installed my oversized PureONE and Shell Rotella-T 5W/40 full synthetic, then wiped dry the foil baking sheets that I slide under the engine to collect the random drips as well as wiping off the engine sump and other surfaces. I'll have to wiat until the next time I move the car, or until Spring to see if the drips are gone.
