Be aware that common OBDII readers virtually always only read base OBDII engine codes, not extended manufacturer codes or codes for other modules like ABS, transmission, SRS, etc. The cheap scanners won't tell you the stuff you are looking for... you need something higher end to do that. You might look into the Equus 3150 or 3160 - I have had good luck with their scanners and it may work on a Saab. Another yet more expensive alternative - but one that might pay off long term - is to invest in one of the cloned Tech 2s. That's a few hundred bucks, but at least you'll know it will work on virtually every Saab subsystem. Several threads here and other sites will help you go down this road.
