I have these setup for both of our cars in our attached garage. My eyes seem to work fine and I do, as a habit, keep them open whenever I'm driving the car ;-)
Like the others have mentioned I have a pretty tight area that we need to get the cars into and still be able to walk around the front and not wanting the garage door to scrape the rear bumper. I've tried the 2x4 trick but didn't want it affixed to the floor. I tried the yellow parking wheel bump things but they had the same problem as the un-affixed 2x4, they were easily bumped/kicked or otherwise moved and had to be reset so I never felt I could 100% trust them and I didn't like them in the middle of the floor when the cars were not in the garage and I was trying to do something else. Same thing with the tennis ball. Having kids around they are just too tempting to pull/swat or otherwise be abused. It's also a pain having them hanging at chest level in the middle of the garage all the time.
So the lasers are a perfect solution for us. I have them on the ceiling out of the way of the kids and any type of accidental bumping. They don't get in my way when the cars are not in the garage. And they let me park within a few inches of where I want to be every time.
But I still need to have my eyes open to see the little red dot on my dash.
