I found two sets of data on a backup hard drive here, sorry I can't say what websites I copied them from as I did not note that back in the day.
One is from 2007 per my hard drive and the other from 2005+/-, at least when I backed these files up.
Hope the format isn't messed up from pasting here from an old word processor program.

First list:
"For those interested, Saab USA customer service was kind enough to pull the following data for me. These numbers represent the total number of each body style Viggen imported into the USA:
1999: 3-door > 426
2000: Convrt > 245
2000: 3-door > 138
2000: 5-door > 421
2001: Convrt > 738
2001: 3-door > 129
2001: 5-door > 285
2002: Convrt > 322
2002: 3-door > 71
2002: 5-door > 157
Totals:
1999 = 426
2000 = 804
2001 = 1,152
2002 = 550
Totals:
3-door = 764
5-door = 863
Convrt = 1,305
Saab produced exactly 24 Monte Carlo Yellow 3dr Viggens in total for the US market per Saab marketing people at the flight academy."

Second list:
"This does not break it down into colors, but I am pretty sure I have seen the color breakdown before.
1999: 3-door > 426
2000: Convrt > 245
2000: 3-door > 138
2000: 5-door > 421
2001: Convrt > 738
2001: 3-door > 129
2001: 5-door > 285
2002: Convrt > 322
2002: 3-door > 71
2002: 5-door > 157
Totals: 1999 = 426 2000 = 804 2001 = 1,152 2002 = 550
Totals: 3-door = 764 5-door = 863 Convrt = 1,305
We pretty much have every color going on...and we couldn't help but wonder just how many of each color was brought over, so i emailed saabusa to ask and this was their reply:
Black-922
Yellow-68
Silver-458
Blue-504
Red-206
Steel gray-774
This was the total over 1999-2002. Just thought i would share :)"

My apologies to whomever I stole this info from years ago without citing the source / website of origin. Saabnet? Apologies Scott and everyone if this info above came from here!
If my memory is any good, in '99 blue was the only commonly available color.
2000 it was blue, silver and black (we bought ordered a silver in Aug. 99, delivered 12/13/99, yes I rememeber), going on what I THINK dealer offered us wise though. Wife hated blue. Previous black cars we owned showed to many surface scratches, so we went silver.
Then there was a darker "silver" or steel gray from 2001 on, and those rare red and monte carlo yellows floating around certain years.
Sorry I'm tired, but hope this helps for figuring out how rare yours is.
I always wondered that about ours and could not tell how many were identical to ours. Near as I can guess ours is possibly one of 421 - 458
No matter, still have it and am not sorry we got it.
Glad you got yours back too!
cheers,
Steve
