Its the poor engineering on the rear suspension Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Fri, 8 Aug 2014 17:29:58 In Reply to: Re: What kind of car, JackOSAAB [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 8 Aug 2014 12:47:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After awhile the rear wheels will kick out Saab knew of the design flaw and made shims that fit in where the wheel hub meets the spindle and suggested not to install more than 3 shims pr wheel. One shim costs 15$ a Saab indie can order them. I installed 3 shims pr wheel on my car and the rear tiers were still riding on the tires edge. So I removed the hub fully from the spindle and installed washers on the hub bolts and then reattached the hub to the spindle and after all this the rear wheels have just a very slight camber. Your rear wheels should out last your front if you don't adjust the camber it doesn't matter what tire you install with the rear of the car riding on the inner edge of the tire they will be destroyed in no time.
To fix the camber install shims or install washers on two of the hub bolts. An alignment shop can't adjust it because there's nothing to adjust. Going to a dealer for advice they will say you need a new upper control arm and in extreme cases the spindle is bent which will also need to be replaced and then they will quote you 500$ pr wheel to fix it. How do I know' because in trying to fix my car I went down every avenue.
Just go out and get 4 50cent washers, and save your new rear tires
