... at least of the type that supplied with the car. Was the parking brake set as tight as possible? Was the parking brake working?
I always put chokes under the wheel opposite to the jacking point (in addition to putting the car in gear and on a parking brake) - but even then I have to readjust the jack sometimes when the car starts sliding. I am surprised wheel chokes are not a standard equipment on cars (I keep and cherish the ones that came with my Datsun).
With one front wheel in the air a FWD transmission does not hold the car - even in park.
